In 1983, film student Rich Murray was handed $20,000 in a brown paper bag by a hustler named 'Butch.' These were the funds he used to direct his first music video for a local Philly rocker named Alan Mann. That video for the song “Christmas on the Block”, went on to become the first and perhaps only video by an unsigned artist to play on regular rotation on MTV. Using “Christmas on the Block” as a framing device, Murray illuminates Mann’s larger story - and how he could have, should of and almost did make it, but didn’t because of his excesses, and a tragic accidental death. The film also turns the lens sharply on the film’s director (Murray) and how his own excesses might have resulted in the same tragic trajectory, that but for wisdom and luck, did not.

Hello! I am Thomas (Tom, Tommy, doesn't matter as long it's a form of Tom) Spence, nice to meet you! I started my filmmaking career taking a screenwriting & video production class in high school, making simple class project videos like PSA's and music video's. I was always confused on what I wanted to do with my life, as most classes in school felt like busywork and didn't take much interest, but that first video production class changed everything. For the first time, I partook in class discussions constantly, and didn't groan when the teacher announced a project is being assigned.
Jokes aside, that is when I found out what I wanted to do with my life. In college, I enrolled at the New York Film Academy in Manhattan, with a BFA in Filmmaking. There I learned more than just writing and taking a camera and shooting, I learned the ins and outs of every position one can be when a film is being made. During my time at NYFA, I wrote, directed, and, produced two short films for my capstone, "Best Seller", and "Scam Likely", which are being submitted to festivals.
I also have been a background actor for Amazon Prime shows like "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "Shelter", you can see me if you pause the show exactly at a specific frame!

A Horror Comedy about an overweight movie nerd that leads a group of people to safety during a zombie/werewolf/vampire/bunny apocalypse.
A curated collection of three surrealist films, sequenced as a strange journey, wordless, expressionist emotion as a spritual transformation. On a distant planet, a robotic force seeks to destroy all remaining life. Among the ruins, the machines discover a strange tree-being and bring it back to their citadel to be destroyed. One robot rebels, turning against the others to save the tree-being, and for this act of compassion is condemned and cast into Hell. Gaia appears, horrified by what has happened, and gives the robot a promise: all things pass from one form into another, and it, too, will be reborn. The robot descends into a hellish purgatory beyond words and sound, experiencing only pain. When we encounter the being again, it has become Dragon Diver, living among an enlightened civilization and dedicating its existence to rescuing drowning victims and carrying them safely back to the surface. For a time, there is peace, until the dragons of Hell return and begin attacking the planet’s cities. Rather than flee from the realm that once condemned it, Dragon Diver returns to Hell and confronts the Sea Dragon King, warning him to leave the planet and its people alone. Once condemned for saving a single life, Dragon Diver now returns to the place of its suffering to protect an entire world. While self contained stories with no explanation, each presents a refutation of modern machine generation, in mathematically and impossible and in a format subject to tape warping, ensuring that it is never the same way twice.
