Director Biography – Yuxuan Wang
Films such as *Green Book* and *The Death Poets Society* have profoundly shaped my creative aesthetic; I particularly admire their restrained, minimalist approach—eschewing overt, rigid moralizing in favor of allowing the hardships of life to unfold naturally through the narrative. My creative practice has always been rooted in reality; I am passionate about uncovering the hidden and complex real-world issues inherent in contemporary life, as well as the silent, unspoken emotional voids within it.
Director Statement
This story is deeply rooted in my formative memories. Throughout my life, the phrase “Learn from your older brother” has always resonated with me. Understanding perfectly Yangyang’s urgent desire to prove himself, I used his predicament to reveal the delicate inner world of a young boy torn by constant comparison. I have always believed that true self-worth never stems from imitation; the simple act of loving oneself is enough to become a shining badge uniquely belonging to that person.
