Wang Heran, a young director and screenwriter. Born in 2007, he is currently studying in the Experimental Middle School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University. I have participated in the creation and production of many short films. His works start from real life, present the daily life of the characters, reflect the social reality, and hope to let the world listen to the ignored voices through movies. His works focus on the inner activities and changes of the characters, and let the emotions of the characters link the audience through the externalization of sound and color. He once tried to integrate profound social issues into narratives of various styles, paying attention to the influence of the film based on the masses, and creating works that can not only attract the audience but also achieve influence. His works were shortlisted for the short film section of the 78th Cannes International Film Festival.
Director Statement
The film was inspired by an interview in a special school in Guangxi. There are many minors who have been sent for correction because of their wrongdoing. In the interview, I learned that family and environmental factors have an important impact on the wrongdoing behavior of minors, and the current treatment plan still focuses more on the change of the consequences of minors’ mistakes. This film hopes to jointly create a growth environment suitable for the development of minors by showing the oppressive growth environment and calling on the active care and goodwill of society for minors.
