Ni Heng, a tight group actor, was temporarily pulled to replace the actor. He was humiliated, drunk, and forced to improvise by the crew. Constantly beating drums, he exploded in humiliation and alcohol, imagining all the people who looked down on him as drum faces, and completed the cruelest and most honest performance in his life with the wild drum sound.

Director Biography
He is Pan Jiaheng, born in 2008 from Shengze, Jiangsu Province. I have always dreamed of movies, participated in many film workshops, and devoted all my energy to polishing my narrative skills after studying. Writing and following the team are my favorite things. These experiences also make me focus on all kinds of staff in the crew and continue to create with their inspiration.
Director Statement
“Deadbeat” is a metafilm that examines “being watched”. Inspired by ancient allusions, I turned my eyes to the marginal people on the modern set. In order to survive, the protagonist must give up his dignity and madness in front of the camera. His naked drumming seems to be a rebellion against repression, but in fact, he was compiled into a perfect material by the director, and was dissipated by the indifference of the industrial system. I tried to ask: In the manipulated image world, when “self-touching” encounters “just work”, does the real voice of the individual still exist?
