Touched by the Earth's breathtaking cross-stitch patterns in the sky, a Puyuma boy feels an overwhelming longing for his sister, who is on a space station. Li-Yu Fu, a scholar in Taiwan indigenous studies and science education, who turned into a storyteller, filmmaker, and director, living in Hsinchu City, known as Taiwan’s Silicon Valley, intersperses entertainment, humane care, popular science, and the culture of Taiwan’s nine indigenous people into 68 episodes of the “Go Go Giwas” animation series. Her contributions to filmmaking and science education have resonated deeply, not only within Indigenous communities and across primary and secondary education, but also among the general public, both in Taiwan and internationally. She was awarded the Ministry of Education Teacher Award by the President in 2025.
Stay tuned, Giwas will embark on a new journey to the other seven indigenous people, exploring more of Taiwan’s rich and diverse cultures and unveiling epochal technology in the next two seasons of the animation series.
Director Statement
This is the first episode of the 5th season of the “Go Go Giwas” animation series in the indigenous Puyuma tribe. In each episode, Giwas and characters from Taiwan’s 16 indigenous peoples learn popular STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) while experiencing traditional wisdom, ethnic music, magnificent ritual ceremonies, and diverse legends from different indigenous peoples.
