Director Statement
As a kid, most of my peers excelled in sports, arts, and maths, whereas I couldn’t find my “thing”. After a long time of being stuck in that whole, feeling like I can’t contribute anything special, I’d discovered the world of filmmaking, with my first short documentary, a bootleg version of ‘All Aussie Adventures’. While I’d appreciated the praise I received for it, I really loathed the process of filmmaking, and decided it’s where my future would be in.
I don’t want to direct films for the fame or money, but for the thrill, the pain, and the humbling learning experience the process of filmmaking gives me every time. For the beautiful end result, that I show to prove what me and my circle can do. For the people in my shoes who marched on, despite the world around them telling them they can’t, and for the people that lifted me up, encouraging me to keep going.
